Linville Falls

Linville, NC 28646
The Pisgah National Forest is extremely large, over 500,000 acres. Linville Falls is the beginning of the Linville Gorge which is formed by the Linville River.

Access to view Linville Falls is provided by several well maintained trails that lead to four overlooks. The Upper Falls Trail is about 0.5 mile and leads to the top of the falls where you can view twin waterfalls and water moving swiftly through a narrow canyon towards the main falls.

The Erwin's View Trail leads to the Chimney View Overlook and the Erwin's View Overlook. This trail is about 1 mile in length. The Plunge Basin Trail is 0.5 miles and takes you to the Plunge Basin Overlook. The final trail is the Gorge Trail which is about 0.75 miles and branches off of the Plunge Basin Trail. The views from all of the overlooks are breathtaking!
